INSPIRATION FROM AROUND THE WORLD FOR AN AESTHETIC AND MEANINGFUL LIFESTYLE

In Good Hands at Hotel Schwarzschmied

Welcoming, forging, shaping, painting: at Schwarzschmied, people and design go hand in hand. Many hands have shaped this spa hotel in Lana — and continue to do so — so that the South Tyrolean house feels exactly the way it does. It is an inspiring place, created by visionaries with a sense for beauty and beyond: a handpicked selection reaching from the old blacksmith to the celebrated interior designer to the contemporary artist.

The Craftsman

Admittedly, the blacksmith was here before the hotel ever existed. But his workshop stood on the very same ground. With his hands, Domenico Zampieri not only forged horseshoes, but also helped those in pain to find relief — albeit with his very own methods. Named in his honor, the spa hotel now seeks to offer its guests the same warmth and sense of comfort.

The Artist

A series of artworks stylizing the blacksmith comes from local artist Hannes Egger. He also created ‘6 Bodies’: two painted hands at the entrance of the adjoining residence that greet guests and transform into six bodies across two floors. Inspired by the wrought-iron railing, this piece serves as a symbol of hospitality. Alongside these permanent works, the Artists in Residence program continually brings in new creations, shaped by other hands.

The Product Designer

South Tyrolean product designer Harry Thaler has also left his mark on Schwarzschmied. Among his contributions are the semi-circular pendant lamps with indirect lighting in the rooftop suites. He also designed the outdoor treatment cabins — huts for wellness treatments inspired by the surrounding mountain landscape: design objects shaped by nature, set beneath the open sky.

The Interior Designer

Christina Biasi-von Berg from the Merano agency biquadra took the lead on the interior design. Light tones, minimalist lines, and plenty of wood: the colors, shapes, and materials take a step back to create a calm and grounding foundation. A space for art, reflection, and well-being. Last but not least, the overall concept bears the signature of the Dissertori brothers, who run the hotel in its second generation, blending tradition with modernity

Here, many hands come together: those of the blacksmith, the designer, the artist, the hosts. Together, they shape a house that is more than just a hotel — it is a place where guests can let go and feel truly in good hands.
